We live in a day much like Isaiah’s when a remnant among God’s people really pursues righteousness according to His great purpose. But for those who do pursue, trust, hope ,wait on Christ, the strength is there to make the weak strong to persevere.

Joy is not something we can drum up from the inside. God chooses to make His glory known, and we are suddenly filled with the joy of His presence. It happened to the shepherds when Jesus came, and it can happen with us now as we seek His presence and purpose.

God spoke to and through the prophet Isaiah, foretelling the coming of the Messiah who would overcome all that opposes God’s reign and bring peace to those who would submit to Him.

Hope is looking back on what God did for us through the Word who became flesh, Jesus. Then, it is looking forward, believing Him to bring His kingdom and show us His glory.

Jesus came to make all things new by making people new from the inside out. He called people to leave behind the old ways of empty tradition and follow Him into new life.

Jesus is willing to meet people where they are at, but He calls them to leave everything behind and follow Him.

Many approached Jesus as one who could meet their felt needs. They took what they wanted and went their way. But some humbled themselves and submitted to Him. These were made whole. How we come to Jesus makes all the difference.

The Word who became flesh, Jesus Christ, as the perfect man, lived in the full authority that the first Adam lost in sin. He came to destroy the works of the evil one. The demons cringed before Him, but though He healed many people, only the few chose to submit, follow and be free.

Jesus confronted the legalism in the synagogue and then the demonic presence hiding there. We must put away legalism and embrace the freedom Christ gives. Only then can we live and act under His authority.
