  • Today we look back and remember how Jesus gave himself to overcome evil and win our salvation.

  • Jesus entered the city on his way to total victory over everything that opposes God and binds people in darkness. He would conquer as a warrior through the suffering, the sacrifice and rise as the King.

  • In the incarnation, Jesus lived fully dependent on God to do the things he did. He felt the needs of people around him and met them by the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. Though not perfect people as he was, we can live in the way he lived because of what he did…

  • Jesus came to destroy the works of the evil one and to set free those bound by darkness and sin. He can save anyone and everyone who comes to Him, no matter what condition they are in. Here is real encouragement for us to keep seeking His kingdom to come in our day.

  • Jesus calmed the sea and storm not by leaning upon his divine nature. He stood in the authority given to him as Son of man in the incarnation. He lived as the perfect man. Because of his work, we can now live by God’s grace under and with that authority.

  • Only God can expand His kingdom in this world. He does it within our hearts and through us as we live His grace and share the truth about Jesus. But neither the power nor the truth comes from us. He alone gives freedom through His word.

  • If we are in Christ, His light is within us. God’s light overcomes the darkness. We need to shine into the lives of others, sharing the truth of the gospel with them by His grace.

  • Jesus explained his parable of the sower very forthrightly. Those who receive the word of the gospel in such a way that they are transformed inside will bear fruit.

  • Jesus made a short, challenging statement regarding family ties and identity which should make us stop and think. John explains it further. When we believe in Jesus, God makes us His children. He breaks the power of family relations that hold power over us. We have a new birth, a new life in grace.

  • Jesus’ own family thought he was doing too much. The religious leaders, caught up in their own thirst for power, accused him of having an “unclean” spirit. But Jesus came to bind the darkness and free those held bound by it. He did his work by the Holy Spirit, and calls us to the same…
